Thomas Solyan
Thomas Solyan is a Chicago Web Developer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interactive Media Design from the Illinois Institute of Art, Chicago. Originally from Northern California, Thomas is a talented musician and Audio Producer. After spending his internship, and a subsequent 2 quarters, as a part-time employee at a Chicago Web development firm he has been doing freelance Web Development for two Chicago communications companies as well as a local creative staffing firm.
As part of his undergraduate requirements, Thomas learned many development languages and scripts to include HTML5, XHTML1.0, CSS3, PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX, database design/implementation, assorted CMS frameworks, and the Adobe Creative Suiteand uses most of them on projects to bees throughout this site (links). On top of his regular required development skills named above, Thomas has dedicated close to two years learning Python. A firm believer in open-source development on the Linux platform using the BASH Terminal, SVN, and assorted open-source GUI's. He is also at home using both the Windows and Mac operating systems and has been using windows since DOS implemented it. As a student in high school learning BASIC on a Apple II for graphic manipulation and creation was his introduction to computers. During four years as a Marine supply clerk he learned and used their proprietary UNIX system on more than a regular basis as part of his military occupation.
With so much still to learn, and excellent work ethics rooted in his time in the Marine Corps, ownership of a Vintage Clothing Store, Back Seat Betty's in Chicago from 1999 thru 2002, and all around Positive Attitude, he is sure to be a valuable part of any team or project.
